New co-authored article “Migration Premium? The Economic Returns to Youth Inter-province migration in China”

Yang Hu’s co-authored article “Migration Premium? The Economic Returns to Youth Inter-province migration in China” (with Mengyao Zhao, Bielefeld, Germany), published in the Journal of Youth Studies, uncovers the “migration premium” attached to Chinese young people’s education and work migration. The study also reveals that as urban-origin young people enjoy a greater migration premium than their rural-origin counterparts, migration premium works as a social mechanism that exacerbates socioeconomic disparities between rural and urban China.
